With the current strong cultural demand, the printing industry is developing steadily. The total output value of China's printing industry has jumped to the third place in the world, among which the digital printing industry is developing steadily. From some simple typing and copying to the rapid development of digital printing today, it is due to the continuous development of digital printing technology. People are increasingly dependent on digital printing, and digital printing has an immeasurable market prospect. With the improvement of consumption level, merchants now pay more and more attention to the outer packaging of products, and pay more attention to safety, environmental protection and design. But having seen so many packages, do you know which packaging materials are most commonly used?

1. Paper packaging materials

In the entire process of packaging design development, paper packaging materials, as a common packaging material, are widely used in production and life practices. Paper materials are low-cost, suitable for large-scale mechanized production, and have good formability and foldability, suitable for exquisite printing, and have the advantages of being recyclable, economical and environmentally friendly.

1) Kraft paper
It has high tensile strength, tear resistance, rupture work and dynamic strength. It is tough and inexpensive, with good folding resistance and water resistance. Most of them are roll paper, and there are also flat paper. It can be divided into single gloss, double gloss, striped, ungrained, etc., with white and yellow-brown colors. It is mainly used for wrapping paper, envelopes, shopping bags, cement bags, and food packaging paper.

2) Coated paper
Coated paper is also called printing coated paper. It is mainly made of high-grade raw materials such as wood and cotton fibers. The surface is coated and glazed to increase smoothness and gloss. It is divided into single-sided and double-sided, and the paper surface is divided into glossy and cloth-textured. The paper surface is smooth, white, and has good ink absorption and ink-holding properties. It can reflect all colors in the spectrum and obtain the best effect, and has low elasticity.

Not only that, it is also divided into single copper (one side is coated and glazed), double copper, matte copper and other types (matte coated paper is matte powder paper and is more expensive than coated paper). Common weights are 80g, 105g, 115g, 128g, 157g, 180g, 200g, 250g, etc. Suitable for color printing, mainly used for offset printing, gravure printing of fine screen printing, such as high-end picture albums, calendars, illustrations in books and periodicals, etc. The printed color is bright and the level changes are rich.

3) Whiteboard
Whiteboard is a kind of paperboard with white and smooth front and gray back. This kind of paperboard is mainly used for single-sided color printing and then made into paper boxes for packaging. It is hard and thick, with good standing strength, surface strength, folding resistance and printing adaptability. It is suitable for making packaging boxes, lining boards, handicrafts, etc.

4) Corrugated paper
Corrugated paper has the advantages of being light and strong, strong in load and pressure resistance, shockproof and moisture-proof, and low in cost. Single-sided corrugated paperboard is generally used as a lining protective layer for commodity packaging or to make lightweight card grids and pads to protect commodities from vibration or collision during storage and transportation; three-layer or five-layer corrugated paperboard is used to make sales packaging for commodities; seven-layer or eleven-layer corrugated paperboard is mainly used to make packaging boxes for electromechanical products, furniture, motorcycles, large household appliances, etc. Corrugated paper can be divided into seven categories according to the flute type: A pit, B pit, C pit, D pit, E pit, F pit, and G pit. Among them, A, B, and C pits are generally used for outer packaging, and D and E pits are generally used for small and medium-sized packaging.

5) Gold and silver card paper
In order to highlight the grade of printed packaging products, more and more customers choose to use gold and silver cards for printing. Based on years of printing experience, some issues that need to be paid attention to in the printing of gold and silver cards are summarized as follows:
Gold and silver cards are a kind of special paper. Unlike ordinary paper, they are divided into two types: bright gold card and dumb gold card, bright silver card and dumb silver card. It is a layer of gold and silver foil medium on the basis of single copper paper or gray board paper. This material is not easy to absorb ink when printing, so a quick-drying ink should be used for printing.

2. Plastic packaging materials

The packaging materials used for various commodities are usually used once. When the commodities are circulated from the production unit to the hands of consumers or after the commodities are opened and used, the packaging materials have completed their mission and are recycled or disposed of as waste materials.

Therefore, for packaging materials, first, their performance should be good and they should be able to meet the needs of protecting and promoting commodities; second, their cost should be as low as possible. The so-called general plastics in today's plastics, such as polyethylene and polypropylene, have the common characteristics of excellent performance, large production volume and low price, and are the preferred materials for plastic packaging materials.

Plastics have good waterproof, moisture-proof, oil-resistant and insulating properties, and are light in weight, colorable, easy to produce, can be shaped into various shapes and suitable for printing. They have abundant raw material sources, low cost and excellent performance. They are one of the most important packaging materials in modern sales packaging.

Common packaging plastic components mainly include polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

3. Metal packaging materials

Metal is widely used in industrial product packaging, transportation packaging and sales packaging. It has excellent mechanical properties and barrier properties, good comprehensive protection performance, beautiful appearance, good processing performance, abundant resources and good waste treatment. It has beautiful appearance, special metallic luster and is easy to print and decorate. It is widely used in food packaging, pharmaceutical packaging, daily necessities packaging, instrument packaging, industrial product packaging, arms packaging, etc. Among them, the largest amount is used for food packaging.

1) Steel packaging
Compared with other metal packaging materials, steel is more abundant, cheaper, has lower energy consumption and cost, and has good plasticity and ductility. Its usage ranks first among metal packaging materials.

2) Aluminum packaging
Aluminum is light in weight, has excellent processing performance, has good ductility and corrosion resistance, is not easy to rust, has beautiful and lasting brightness, and is easy to print, process and recycle. Aluminum is mainly used for sales packaging, the most common of which is cans. There are mainly pure aluminum plates, alloy aluminum plates, aluminum foils and aluminized films. It has good corrosion resistance and is better than stainless steel in some occasions. For example, aluminum packaging for aquatic products will not cause the adverse phenomenon of metal sulfidation and blackening due to the decomposition of sulfides in protein.

4. Glass and ceramic packaging materials

Glass has the characteristics of high transparency, impermeability and corrosion resistance, non-toxicity, tastelessness, stable chemical properties, low production cost, etc. It can be made into transparent and translucent containers of various shapes and colors. Ceramics have good chemical and thermal stability, can withstand the erosion of various chemicals, high temperature resistance, and rapid changes in temperature will not affect ceramics. It is an ideal packaging container for food and chemicals. Glass and ceramics belong to silicate materials. Glass and ceramic packaging refers to packaging containers made of ordinary or special glass and ceramics, such as glass bottles, glass jars, ceramic bottles and containers such as jars, jars, and pots.

The printing press completes printing in a very short time. The ink overprinting method is wet-on-wet. If the printing color sequence is not arranged properly, the ink overprinting rate will drop significantly. Therefore, the following basic principles should be followed when arranging the printing color sequence according to the characteristics of the printing press:

(1) Arrange the printing color sequence according to the transparency of the ink. Print the ink with lower transparency first, and then print the ink with higher transparency. This can improve the color rendering effect after the ink overprinting.

(2) Arrange the printing color sequence according to the area of the printing plate. That is, the ink with a smaller area of the printing plate is printed first, and the ink with a larger area of the printing plate is printed later.

(3) Arrange the printing color sequence according to the viscosity of the ink. Print the ink with higher viscosity first, and then print the ink with lower viscosity. Reduce the viscosity of the ink color by color. If the ink with higher viscosity must be printed in the last color group, use a detackifier to appropriately reduce its viscosity. Otherwise, reverse overprinting failure will occur, that is, ink mixing will occur. For example: when the paper gripper of the machine is worn and the black characters have ghosting problems, the color sequence can be adjusted to arrange the black ink in the second, third or fourth color group for printing, but the viscosity of the black ink should be reduced in time.

(4) Arrange the printing color sequence according to the characteristics of the original. For example, when printing originals with warm tones such as figures and colorful clouds, cyan should be placed in the front color group and magenta should be placed at the back; when printing originals with cold tones such as glaciers and snow scenes, magenta should be placed in the front color group and cyan should be placed at the back.

Why are they willing to spend so much extra money to buy digital printing equipment?

Because digital printing equipment can bring them higher value. In contrast to the cumbersome and lengthy design and printing process of traditional printing industry, digital quick printing is easy to operate, fast and smooth. Precisely because of the huge market potential of digital printing in my country, we cannot ignore its development prospects. We need to find its position in the digital printing market reasonably and fully realize its value.

The application of UV printing is one of the most important contents in the printing industry.

The UV printing process mainly refers to the use of special UV ink to achieve partial or overall UV printing effect on UV printing machine. It is mainly suitable for printing non-absorbent materials, such as gold card paper, silver card paper, pearl paper, transparent stickers, plastics, PVC, PE, gratings, etc. Compared with traditional offset printing, UV printing has the characteristics of bright colors, special printing materials, novel products, and broad market prospects. It is suitable for high-end business card boutique packaging, high-end commercial albums, special desk calendars, special label printing and other product fields.

We should choose a device with brand value, high return rate, and can do what others can't do, and do it better, which can help us stand out in the competition.
