Today, we share an important part in digital printing - color match techniques. When we study PS digital printing toning, the first thing we need to master is these theoretical knowledge. Only through these theoretical knowledge can we know what to do and what not to do in each step of operation. Then go to master the color matching skills of digital printing, such as using various tools in PS software to change the artwork.

In addition to determining the number of colors that can be displayed in an image, the color mode also affects the number of channels and file size of the image. The channel mentioned here is also an important concept in Photoshop. Each Photoshop image has one or more channels, and each channel stores the information of the color elements in the image. The default number of color channels in an image depends on its color mode. For example, a CMYK image has at least four channels, representing cyan, magenta, yellow, and black information respectively. In addition to these default color channels, additional channels called alpha channels can also be added to images to store and edit selections as masks, and spot color channels can be added. An image sometimes has as many as 24 channels. By default, there is still one channel in bitmap mode, grayscale duotone, and indexed color images; RGB and Lab images have three channels; CMYK images have four channels.

1. HSB mode

The HSB mode is defined based on the observation of colors by the human eye. In this mode, all colors are described by three characteristics: hue or hue, saturation, and brightness.

Hue (H)

Hue is a color physical and psychological characteristic related to the main wavelength of the color. It is known from experiments that visible light of different wavelengths has different colors. The light of many wavelengths can be mixed in different proportions to form various colors, but as long as the wavelength composition is constant, the color is determined. Achromatic colors (black, white, gray) do not have hue attributes; all colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, blue, purple, etc.) are attributes that represent the appearance of colors. They are all hues, sometimes called hues.

Saturation (S)

Saturation refers to the intensity or purity of a color, and represents the proportion of the gray component in the hue, represented by 0%-100% (pure color).

Brightness (B)

Brightness is the relative lightness and darkness of a color, usually measured from 0% (black) to 100% (white).

2. RGB mode

The RGB mode is based on the mixing principle of the 3 primary colors in nature. The 3 primary colors of red (R), green (G) and blue (B) are divided into each color according to the brightness value from 0 (black) to 255 (white). Assigned in the order, thereby specifying its color. When the primary colors of different brightness are mixed, 256*256*256 colors will be produced, which is about 16.7 million kinds. For example, a bright red color might have an R value of 246, a G value of 20, and a B value of 50. When the luminance values of the three primary colors are equal, gray is produced; When the three luminance values are all 255, pure white is produced; and when all luminance values are 0, pure black is produced. When the three kinds of color light are mixed, the color generated is generally higher than the original color brightness value, so the method of generating color in RGB mode is also called color light addition method.

3. CMYK mode

CMYK color mode is a printing mode. The four letters refer to cyan (Cyan), magenta (Magenta), yellow (Yellow), and black (Black), which represent four colors of ink in printing. The CMYK mode is essentially the same as the RGB mode, but the principle of color generation is different. In the RGB mode, the color light emitted by the light source is mixed to generate a color, while in the CMYK mode, there are different proportions of C, M, Y, On paper with K ink, after part of the spectrum is absorbed, the light reflected to the human eye produces color. When C, M, Y, and K are mixed into colors, as the four components of C, M, Y, and K increase, the light reflected to the human eye will become less and less, and the brightness of the light will become lower and lower, so The method of producing colors in CMYK mode is also known as color light subtractive color method.

4. Lab mode

The prototype of the lab mode is a standard for measuring color formulated by the CIE Association in 1931, which was redefined in 1976 and named CIELab. This mode resolves the differences in color reproduction caused by different monitors and printing devices, that is, it does not rely on device.

Lab color is represented by a brightness component L and two color components a and b. The value range of L is 0-100, the a component represents the spectral change from green to red, and the b component represents the spectral change from blue to yellow, and the value range of a and b are both -120 - 120. The Lab mode contains the widest range of colors and can contain all the colors in the RGB and CMYK modes. The CMYK mode contains the least colors, and some colors that are seen on the screen cannot be realized on the printed product.

Now you know how to adjust the color matching digital printing, then print satisfied T shirts or other clothing images.
