The Smoke Generator is a device that is primarily used to produce smoke for a variety of applications, including fire drills, stage effects, industrial inspections, and more. Smoke generators include single-cigarette smoke generators and multi-cigarette smoke generators. This article delves into the basic aspects of cigarette smoke generators, including how they work, safe operating procedures, how to use them, common problems, and the necessity of routine maintenance.

Product Features

  • Touch screen control, user-friendly operation, easy to use.
  • Optional environment, real-time smoke monitoring function, air compressor and exhaust gas adsorption device.
  • Equipped with gas flow meter to adjust the amount of smoke generated.
  • Through automated smoking, a standard smoking mode is established.
  • It has manual cigarette lighting mode and automatic mode. In manual mode, cigarette lighting can be triggered by screen buttons, and the cigarette position can be manually controlled.
  • Automatic mode can realize the process of fully automatic cigarette loading and lighting. After lighting one cigarette, the next one is automatically loaded.

Applicable fields

Drug evaluation: efficacy, pharmacokinetics and safety evaluation of inhalation administration, research on inhalation immunity, in vitro cell exposure safety evaluation and drug screening.

Disease modeling and research: research on occupational diseases such as pneumoconiosis, acute respiratory diseases, lung injury, lung cancer, asthma, COPD, pulmonary fibrosis.

Environmental and health inhalation exposure research: environmental and ecological inhalation exposure research, air purifier testing, filter effect testing, nanomaterial particle/dust inhalation exposure safety research.

Cigarette toxicity test: toxicity test of cigarettes.

Structural features and working principle

1. Structural features

As shown in the figure, the generator consists of several major components, including a chassis, a combustion chamber window mechanism, an air pump, a flow meter, a switch button, a cigarette lighter, a circulating air pump and a filter, a CPU board and a power board. The chassis is made of thin stainless steel plates bent, assembled and welded, and the surface is rust-removed and then painted white.

2. Working principle

This generator uses positive pressure air blowing to generate smoke. The cigarette is fixed on the base mouthpiece, the combustion chamber tube is connected to the base, and the cigarette is lit with a cigarette lighter. At the same time, the timing starts. The cigarette is burned within (40~50) seconds, and the solid particles (cigarette smoke) are introduced into the test chamber through the smoke outlet pipe at the end of the mouthpiece. After the cigarette is burned out, turn off the air intake pump and turn off the smoke output, enter the working state of the circulating air pump, and filter the smoke remaining in the original combustion chamber window.

Safety operating procedures

1. Use environment

The cigarette smoke generator can only be used in a well-ventilated place. It is forbidden to operate in a closed space or oxygen-free environment. It must be ensured that there are no flammable materials around the device to prevent fire accidents.

2. Power supply requirements

The cigarette smoke generator requires a stable power supply. Before use, be sure to check whether the power cord is damaged and whether the power supply voltage meets the requirements of the device. It is forbidden to operate in a humid environment to avoid the risk of electric shock.

3. Heating preparation

Before starting the cigarette smoke generator, heating preparation must be performed. According to the instructions of the equipment manual, add smoke oil to the smoke generator and wait for a while to ensure that the smoke oil is fully evaporated. It is forbidden to force the device to start, so as not to damage the device or cause safety accidents.

4. Start and shut down the device

Before starting the device, be sure to ensure that the operator and surrounding personnel are out of the spray range of the smoke generator. After starting the device, no objects should be placed in the air outlet of the device or block the air outlet to ensure normal spraying of smoke. After use, the device should be turned off in time and wait for it to cool down before subsequent operations.

5. Protective measures

When using a cigarette smoke generator, the operator should wear personal protective equipment, such as gloves and goggles. It is forbidden to directly touch the heating module of the smoke generator to avoid burns. The operator should pay attention to the direction of smoke spraying to avoid spraying on other people or flammable objects.

Usage method

1. Before use, please note that the power supply of the generator is AC220V 50Hz. Use a corresponding power supply and connect it.

2. The rectangular button on the left side of the panel is the power switch. Press it to turn on the machine and the indicator light will be on.

3. Press the "Open Cabin" button to open the combustion chamber window and fix the cigarette on the base mouthpiece. At this time, you can directly press the "Start/Stop" button or press the "Open Cabin" button again to close the combustion chamber window and then press the "Start/Stop" button. The cigarette lighter and air pump start working. Smoke begins to form in about 10 seconds. After 40~50 seconds, the combustion is completed and the machine automatically enters the circulating air pump working state.

4. Press the "Start/Stop" button to exit the smoke generation working state. Only then can you press the "Open Cabin" button to open the combustion chamber window.

5. Instructions for flow adjustment: Generally, the flow rate is adjusted to 4L/min, and the cigarette burns to 3~5mm from the filter. If it is found that the cigarette burns excessively or insufficiently, adjust the flow rate down or up.

Common Problems and Solutions

1. Odor problem: Traditional heated bag foggers may produce odor during use because the residual smoke oil in the pipe will be burned by high temperature. However, heated tube foggers rarely have this problem due to better temperature control.

2. Smoke uniformity: When using heated tube foggers, it is recommended to use fan guidance to ensure even distribution of smoke.

Daily Maintenance

1. Filter Replacement: When installing a new filter, make sure the arrow is in the same direction.

2. Record the number of puffs: You can choose to reset the puff counter when replacing the filter to record the service life of the filter.

3. Cigarette Lighter Adjustment: Adjust the position of the cigarette lighter according to the length of the cigarette to ensure the smoke effect.
