Definition of MPO Fiber Optic Patch Cord
MPO fiber optic patch cord is a kind of high-density optical fiber transmission jumper composed of connector and optical cable, MPO connector is one of the MT series connectors, is a multi-core and multi-channel pluggable connector, MT series ferrule is used on the end face of the ferrule two guide holes with a diameter of 0.7mm and the guide pin (also known as PIN pin) for precise connection.
MPO fiber optic patch cord products mainly include MPO pre-terminated fiber patch cords, MPO branch fiber patch cords, and MPO sector fiber optic cables.
Common number of cores in MPO
MPO is more common 12 cores, 16 cores, and 24 cores.
The 12-core MPO fiber patch cord is used in 40G networks, and the 24-core
MPO fiber patch cords are used in 100G networks. The 16/32-core MPO fiber optic connector is the best solution for low-latency and ultra-high-speed transmission in 400G networks.
MPO Male and Female Definitions
MPO fiber optic connectors include optical fibers, sheaths, coupling components, metal rings, pins (PIN pins), dust caps, etc.
The male connector contains two PIN pins, the female connector does not.
The connection between the MPO connectors is precisely aligned with the PIN pin, and a "click" is heard to ensure that it locks with the adapter when mated.
There are three types of MPO line sequences:
- Type A: The core arrangement position at both ends of the jumper is the same, that is, the 1 at one end corresponds to the 1 at the other end, and the 12 at one end corresponds to the 12 at the other end. The key keys at both ends are facing opposite directions, and the key up corresponds to the key down.
- Type B: The core arrangement at both ends of the jumper is reversed, that is, the 1 at one end corresponds to the 12 at the other end, and the 12 at one end corresponds to the 1 at the other end. The key key at both ends is oriented in the same direction, i.e. key up corresponds to key up, and key down corresponds to key down.
- Type C: The MPO jumper of type C is a pair of adjacent core positions crossed, that is, the core 1 at one end corresponds to the 2 at the other end, and the fiber core 12 at one end is 11 at the other end. The key at both ends is also facing the opposite direction, and the key up corresponds to the key down.
